10 young people from HideOut, Manchester have produced the second episode for the Raheem Sterling Broadcast Academy, at its HQ in Gorton.
The youngsters discuss all things football, including Ronaldo’s departure from Manchester United, the rise of popularity in women’s football, and predictions for the World Cup winner!
Aspiring young journalists Charlie and Jen also feature on the podcast and speak to the main man himself, Raheem, on Chelsea’s latest defeat against Manchester City and how he became a northern favourite.
Raheem opens up about the opportunity he had with Liverpool saying ‘’I had a lot of people around me, supporting me, who had a vision for me.’’
When asked what match he would replay if he could, Raheem answered ‘‘I’d replay my debut for Liverpool again – it’s a moment that came to life after sheer hard work and sacrifices of being away from my family. I would play that one over and over again.’’
Charlie and Jen asked how it felt to be questioned by young people taking part in the Broadcast academy ‘’It’s refreshing to see young faces asking the questions, not some old guy standing in front asking boring questions!’’
Sarah Collins Executive Producer at talkSPORT, ‘’It was fantastic to see the energy from the Manchester academy in Gorton. The young people got involved from the minute we arrived and Charlie and Jen’s interview with Raheem after the Manchester City match has set the bar very high!’’
The Raheem Sterling Broadcast Academy released its first episode on 8th November – listen here.
The Raheem Sterling Foundation Broadcast Academy has been created between the Raheem Sterling foundation and talkSPORT to help young people get a taste of careers in the media.
