The Raheem Sterling Foundation was recently commended for its knife-amnesty campaign at the third annual Weekly Gleaner Honour Awards, held in London.
The Foundation was honoured within the ‘Sports’ category for our knife-amnesty initiative in Brent, North London, where seven knife bins were installed earlier this year. Through partnerships with organisations including Brent Council, the initiative aims to offer support systems to help young people overcome challenges and thrive for a better future.
In addition to the 7 knife amnesty bins now in place, the campaign is committed to providing long-term support and advice to help transform communities, empower youth, and combat knife crime in Brent, where Raheem grew up.
Raheem commented on the coveted award win and said:
“I’m honoured to receive the Weekly Gleaner Honours Award for Sports. This recognition means a lot to me as it reflects not just my achievements on the pitch, but also the impactful work we’ve been doing through the Raheem Sterling Foundation. I believe in the power of sport to inspire change and empower young people and it has always been a priority for me to give back, particularly to young people.
